Focal Vestia 2 : Speaker

Focal Vestia N2 speakers are the most compact floorstanding loudspeakers in the Vestia range. They feature two 6” mid units and two 6” bass units as well as the TAM tweeter. Vestia range sits above the Chora range and below Aria range. All of the Vestia range uses Slatefibre cones. Additionally, the tweeter has an aluminium magnesium inverted dome for sweet treble. Cabinets feature two bass ports and come in black, dark wood and light wood finishes. Finally, there are another two floor standing sets as well as bookshelf and centre speakers.

Inovative cabinet design

The N2 has an MDF cabinet that features more than one tuned vent to enhance the mid bass impact. The low bass is punchy with no honking. Moreover, the cabinet is well braced so that the Slatefibre drivers will give a natural sound. Next, passive time alignment is achieved by placing the speakers on a tilted aluminium stand. In this way all the different audio frequencies arrive at the listeners at the same time.

Revolutionary Slatefibre cone drivers

New Slatefibre cone drivers are used by the N2. These were developed in 2019, and the design gives a rich and ultra-balanced sound, especially in the midranges. The unique slate effect is also an attractive characteristic of the range. The cones are made in France from recycled non-woven carbon fibres. The fibres are then mixed with thermoplastic polymer. This mix of materials makes for a very strong and rigid cone. The acoustic properties are excellent. Rigidity is increased by having the fibres all oriented in the same direction. Damping is improved by having the fibres non-woven. Finally, carbon fibre is very light resulting in good sensitivity.

TAM tweeter

The TAM tweeter was originally developed for car audio. As a result it has good dispersion properties. The tweeter has a 25mm Aluminium magnesium inverted dome, with good off-axis properties. The metal material is good at dispersing heat. This prevents distortion at high volumes.

The rest of Vestia range

There are more speaker sets in the Vestia range. The N1 is a bookshelf design with two drivers. Next the N3 is a five driver unit with three 6” bass units. The flagship floor stander is the N3, this has two 8” bass units. All are on tilted aluminium stands. Finally, there is a three driver centre speaker.
